Foundation in Mindfulness
The Foundation in Mindfulness Course in Subiaco is an introductory program ideal for adults with no prior knowledge of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation, and wish to learn skills to be more present, calm, and mindful. The course is non-religious and informed by scientifically validated programs and practices. In the second half of 2018 we will also offer the Foundation in Mindfulness program in a 1-day workshop format.
Foundation Course Dates and Enrollment

Full-time students and concession card holders can apply for a $50 discount. Most major credit cards are accepted. Applying for a discount: please contact us before enrolling in order to obtain a discount/membership number that you enter during on-line payment to receive your discount.
4-Session graduate discount voucher is now available to past attendees of our training. For $100 you can repeat the foundation course at any time during the calendar year. Please contact us for further enrollment details and registration payment link.

The course involves 4-weekly sessions that are 1.5 hrs in duration and occur on a Wednesday evening. Most courses commence on the first Wednesday of every month, excluding December and April. Session times: 630pm to 8pm. Venue: 203 Bagot Road, Subiaco Community Centre. Parking: there is some limited street parking or across the road at Crossways Shopping Centre. It is optional to purchase some practice CD’s at the door ($10). However, purchasing CDs is not absolutely necessary as we provide free on-line guided practices in our Resources – Downloads menu option page. The course starts with learning the basic practices and knowledge in a friendly and supportive learning environment. We encourage people to do some home practice between sessions of about 15 to 20 minutes per day to help deepen their learning and skill set. Approximately 10 to 20 people attend each course. Finally, we supply a book that explains the fundamental ideas and practices of meditation, and how to cultivate mental stillness and relaxation that form the basis of mental clarity and awareness.
What to Bring
A pen to write with if you like to make notes. Practices are normally performed sitting on chairs (although a few are done in the standing position). However, your are welcome to bring cushions or a yoga mat if you normally prefer sitting on the floor or sitting in chairs for long periods is difficult for you. In winter, it is wise to wear warm clothing or bring a blanket if you especially feel the cold. The hall has aircon, but it is not easy to set it to everyone’s level of comfort. Please let us know if you wish to purchase a CD practice pack ($10) at the door. However, as mentioned above, there are free on-line guided practices in our Resources – Downloads menu option page.

Refunds less a $50 administration fee are given to cancellations received by telephone or by email before the first session commences. No refunds are available after the course commences. However, if you miss a particular sessions due to unforeseen circumstances or wish to defer attending the course, then it is OK to contact us to attend a future course or attend missed sessions at a following course. Perth Mindfulness Centre reserves the right to cancel workshops if there is insufficient registrations to run the workshop, or in the unusual event of speakers falling ill or unable to attend due to exceptional unforeseen circumstances. In this special case, registration fees will be refunded in full. You will be notified of any changes in course information or location, or in the advent of cancellation.
